Premium is due every month until the end of the coverage period, as defined under the policy. The first premium payment, plus any applicable taxes and fees, is due within 60 days of the lease start date. It will automatically be collected through the payment feature on Zillow Rental Manager directly out of rental income you receive from the renter’s first monthly rent payment. Premiums will not be deducted from any 1-time payments, such as move-in costs or prorated rent. For subsequent payments, if your renter pays rent before the 15th of the month, your premium (plus surplus lines taxes and fees) will be collected from their rent payment. Otherwise, your premium will be debited from your Stripe account on the 15th of every month.
If your policy starts after June 13th, 2024 you will begin getting charged for premiums automatically through your preferred premium method (debit or credit card) after your tenant makes their first rent payment on the payment platform.
For both situations, If you don’t receive a rental payment from the renter within 60 days of the lease start date, the binder will expire and the policy won’t be issued.
